Philippines have original famous cartoons and animations that reflect the Filipino cultures showed in comics and films. Original Filipino cartoons are drawn and publicized in famous Filipino reading material called "komiks". During the late 1920s, Filipino writer Romualdo Ramos and Filipino visual artist Antonio “Tony” Velasquez created the cartoon character named Kenkoy. It appeared in the pages of the Tagalog-language Liwayway magazine as a weekly comic strip entitled Mga Kabalbalan ni Kenkoy or "Kenkoy’s antics".
The first famous Filipino-made cartoon for television (TV) was Panday, created by Gerry Garcia in the 1980s based on the comic book character of the same name produced by Carlo J. Caparas. From 1995 to 1997, Gerry Garcia also brought into life Adarna, the first Filipino full-length animation movie, based on the story of the Adarna bird. Garcia wrote the story and directed Adarna under FLT Productions and Guiding Light Productions. Gerry Garcia is considered as the pioneer of Filipino animation industry.
In 2008, Gerry Garcia’s creation was later followed by the second Filipino full-length animated feature film, Urduja, a Philippine animation product using a mixture of digital and traditional animation techniques. Another noteworthy animated Filipino superhero is the famous Captain Barbell.
Famous Filipino Ruben Tagalog
Ruben Tagalog is a Famous Filipino actor and musician, famous for his works in the Kundiman style. He is also a part of the Mabuhay Singers. Ruben Tagalog first caught the attention of radio listeners in the '40s when he hosted his own radio program, Harana ni Ruben Tagalog. The famous Filipino musician was the first artist to record Bayan Ko and Ang Pasko ay Sumapit.
In spite of his last name being "Tagalog", he was actually a Visayan from Iloilo and was a speaker of the Visayan language Hiligaynon (aka Ilonggo). The famous Filipino artist released at least two Cebuano Visayan albums. "Ruben Tagalog sings Visayan Songs" and a duet album with Cebuana singer Nora Hermosa called "Duet In Visayan".
In the early 1950s Ruben Tagalog became the first to popularize the Tagalog version of the 1933 Visayan Christmas carol "Kasadya Ning Taknaa" as "Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit". The Tagalog lyrics were written by Levi Celerio.
Ruben Tagalog baritone voice filled his songs Ramona, Sayang, Azucena and Nasaan Ka Ngayon with emotion. He revived danzas and balitaws like Nahan Kaya Ikaw, Bakit Ka Lumuluha, Barong Tagalog, Dalagang Pilipina and Caprichosa.

Born in May 4, 1972. Studied in Mowelfund Film Institute, where he learned animation and film making. Emmanuel Santos was born on 1957 in the Philippines. He is a Melbourne, Australia, based documentary and art photographer.
